Nazuk & Vaibhav’s Destination Wedding Al Bustan Palace, a Ritz-Carlton Hotel

When Nazuk Bardeja and Vaibhav Sood met for the first time at an intimate wedding gathering back in India, little did they know that half a decade later they would be flying down to our very own Sultanate to exchange their own nuptial vows in the luxurious sanctuary of the palatial Al Bustan Palace, a Ritz-Carlton Hotel! At Bride & Groom, as you must know by now, we are absolutely gulled by a good wedding story and this one had us all the more excited due to it being a destination wedding held right here in Oman! We met up with this gorgeous couple, and learnt a lot about them and what made them choose the Sultanate as their destination. Read on and feel inspired, and remember, if you would like to share your wedding story with us, simply hit us up at brideandgroomoman@gmail.com.

Tell us about the first meeting.

Nazuk
It was at a friend’s wedding party!
Vaibhav
This was about five years ago; that is when we hit it off and everything simply followed.
We’re told your proposal was quite the surprise.

Vaibhav
I suppose it was! I proposed to her on the 10th of April last year. We had gone out for a quite dinner and after it ended I told her we were invited to my cousin’s birthday celebrations. (Laughs)
Nazuk
As you can see, I had no idea!

Vaibhav
As soon as we reached, she realized no one was around, so I took her to the poolside saying that that’s where everyone must be; I was playing along. I’d set up the poolside of the Shangri-La, New Delhi with lanterns, candles and roses.
Nazuk
I couldn’t believe it.

Vaibhav
It didn’t take much time then, I went down on my knee and popped the ring; she said ‘Yes!’
What made you choose Oman as the destination for your wedding?
Vaibhav
Oman is a hidden gem. The breathtaking views, the landscape and the weather at that time of the year and its people were so warm and welcoming that we just couldn’t resist. The whole team at the Al Bustan Palace Hotel was amazing.
So that’s when you decided on the Al Bustan Palace Hotel as your venue?

Nazuk
The hotel suited us perfectly with all its grandeur and richness, the perfect number of rooms, and the great service. I think there could have been no better venue to choose from. Being a stunning, palatial hotel set amidst such a breathtaking landscape – golden mountains on one end and the soothing, pristine sea on the other – it was love at first sight!
Vaibhav
It’s truly a dream venue. To top that, the whole team was so cordial and friendly that we felt we were truly in the right hands; their service moved us. Our guests were completely mesmerized by the details the hotel had taken care of. None of our guests heard ‘No’ to anything they asked for! Mr. Rami Farhat (Director of Sales & Marketing at the Al Bustan Palace Hotel) is the man who pulled off our wedding; he welcomed us with open arms.
Tell us about the events and ceremonies.

Vaibhav
Our wedding was held over the weekend; our friends flew in from various parts of the world to be a part of the first function, the ‘Youngsters Party’! It was held at the Beach Pavilion of the hotel and everyone let their hair down with Micah and Ruben (renowned violin and saxophone duo) doing a brilliant fusion electronica!
Nazuk
The Mehendi (Henna Ceremony) and Sangeet were held in the evening; we commenced the ceremony with Bhavya Pandit’s (Indian playback singer) melodious renditions of some of the best Bollywood songs from the 70s, 80s and 90s. After the Mehendi our friends started to unravel the funniest secrets of our courtship, including our dates, the bachelorette and bachelor parties, Vaibhav’s proposal and my vanishing act, and how I turned it down – was hilarious!

Vaibhav
The Baraat (Wedding Procession) was the most amazing in my opinion. It had a moving DJ on a cart with the cliffs in the backdrop; DJ Gaurav was spinning a mix of the most epic Punjabi, EDM and Bollywood tracks.
Nazuk
We exchanged Varmalas (wedding garlands), received our blessings and said our vows. The beach then lit up with tiny lights to resemble a million stars sprinkled across the sea shore – a perfect setting for our Feras (circling the holy fire). It was a surreal night, perfectly executed by the Al Bustan Palace Hotel’s team.

It sounds incredible! Will you recommend your friends and family to host their weddings in Oman as well?

Nazuk
Absolutely! Like Vaibhav said before, Oman is a hidden gem. We are still mesmerized from the whole experience, the hospitality, the stunning landscape and the beautiful weather. Oman is a terrific wedding destination; we’d love to come back time and time again.
To conclude, give us a snapshot of your trousseau.
Nazuk
Both of us wore outfits from Rohit Bal’s Gulbagh Collection which were customized to our liking. My dress was an enchanting garden inspired theme, containing birds, fruits and flowers entwined!
